District Tournaments a Great Success for 2009 The District 19 2009 Tournaments proved to be even more exciting than previous years. With the staggered starts of the 9-10 and 10-11 divisions we were able to utilize one tournament site in some cases for more than one division of tournament. We were excited to see our District Little League Champion, McAllister Park American advance to the State Tournament, on to the Regional Tournament and finally to the Little League World Series. They ended up 2nd in the U.S. Championships losing to the Chula Vista California team that they had beaten in their first encounter with that team. That team came home to be hosted with a River Parade and many other events to recognize their achievements including introduction at the Spurs opener at the AT&T Center at half-time on the court on October 18th. Congratulations to the McAllister Park American Little League Champions, we are all very proud of your achievements. A special thank you to all of our teams that participated in the City Tournaments and the District All-Star Tournaments. Every team had great support from the fans. Our teams were the greatest and displayed the best in sportsmanship along with their baseball and softball skills. Thanks to the host leagues for allowing all of us to use your fine facilities and for providing all of support needed to put on these tournaments. That includes providing personnel to keep score for games, prepare and maintain fields especially when we had two games or more on some fields at times and for being gracious hosts and making all of us feel welcome. Also, thanks to all the volunteers who serve us by being our tournament directors, site directors, umpire supervisors and umpires. Thanks to the District Staff for your work all year around.

District Presidents & Staff Meeting The District 19 League Presidents and Staff Members will meet on Thursday, November 5th at the Windcrest Civic Center to review our plans for the 2010 Little League Season. We will make some changes to improve our Tournament Season, but will continue with the staggering of our tournament start dates so that we can better utilize our facilities and resources.
Looking for ... All League Presidents were asked to assist the District and our new Umpire Consultant, Hadley Stein in finding and training additional volunteer Little league Umpires. In addition, the District Administrator made it known that we are looking for 2 additional Baseball ADA's and 2 additional Softball ADA's from among the leagues in 2010 to assist us during Tournaments as Tournament or Game Directors.

District 19 Hockey Night at the AT&T Center
On November 18, 2009 we are hosting our annual Hockey Night at the AT&T Center compliments of the Spurs. Please plan on attending. Invitations have been mailed to current League Presidents and District Staff. The event is free to our League Presidents and their families and our District Staff Members and their families. We will have a luxury box reserved just for our event. This is a very good time to relax and come out and visit with the Little League families of District 19. Our Regional Director has been invited and is planning on attending our event again this year. We will have the opportunity to also tour the Spurs locker room for those who did not get the opportunity last year. Hope to see everyone there. |
